Dear colleague,
A very happy new year!
2019 kept us busy at Ikigai Law, not least because the Indian government introduced the Personal Data Protection Bill, 2019 in Parliament. This proposed law differs in key aspects from an earlier version prepared by the government appointed Justice Srikrishna Committee. The government’s bill has now been referred to a select committee of parliamentarians for further discussion.
When passed, the data protection law will require organizations to substantially rework their business plans and practices. In the meantime, our team has put together a rich set of practical and analytical materials to help organizations better understand the forthcoming law and prepare for compliance.
